Reiki Self-Healing

Regular Reiki treatments will strengthen your immune system, relieve anxiety and stress, aid mindfulness and enable your body to heal itself.  The more treatments you have, the more powerful the Reiki will be.  And if you have been attuned to Reiki, then you can carry out Reiki Self-Treatments from Day 1.

How to Carry Out Reiki Self-Healing

If you have the time, you can create a relaxing space.  Perhaps you might light a candle and play some relaxing music.

Sit or lie comfortably, and take a few calming deep breaths.  Set the intention to give yourself Reiki for cleansing and healing.

Turn Reiki “on” either by thinking “Reiki On” or (if you are Reiki II or above) by drawing the Power symbol into your palm chakras, tapping and saying the name of the symbol 3 times.

Reiki Self-Healing Hand Positions

Place your cupped hands in the positions shown below and intend that Reiki flows.  There is no need to touch the body at all – Reiki will work just as well with the hands held 2 – 4 inches away from the body.

4 positions on the head: eyes, ears, back of the head, throat.

3 positions on the torso: chest, stomach, groin.

3 positions on the back: top of shoulders, kidneys, base of spine.

(If you find it difficult to do both shoulders at the same time, you can use the opposite hand on the opposite shoulder, and do one shoulder at a time)

3 positions on the leg: knees, ankles, top and sole of each foot.

(If you can bend over to reach your feet you can do them both together, otherwise do one at a time as in the picture below)

How Long in Each Position?

You can hold each position for as long as you feel you need, or for as long as you have (a little Reiki is always better than no Reiki!).  Somewhere between 1 and 3 minutes for each position is perfect.  You can find Reiki music on You Tube that plays a bell every 3 minutes.  Alternatively, I find it calming to just count – I try to hold each position while I count to 120.  You don’t need to be too prescriptive with this, just do what feels right.

I like to finish with some thoughts of gratitude for the Reiki, as small “prayer” or mantra.  Most often I use “I seal this process with Divine love and wisdom” three times.  If you are feeling a bit “spacey” you can clap your hands to quickly ground yourself.
